What is Recurring costs?

Recurring costs are business expenses that return on a schedule, including rent, software, insurance, subscriptions and routine supplies.

Why it matters

A small repeating charge matters because it reduces runway every month. Annual renewals can be easy to miss when the first payment is months away. Converting every repeat bill to a monthly amount reveals the real cost of staying open.

How to use it

  1. List monthly, quarterly and annual business bills.
  2. Convert each charge into a monthly equivalent.
  3. Check whether each subscription is needed from day one.
  4. Review recurring costs before every renewal.

The free StartupCostCheck turns recurring bills into a monthly burn estimate. You can then test how removing or delaying a bill changes your runway.
