StartupCostCheck Glossary
What is Delay list?
A delay list records useful but nonessential startup purchases that can wait until customer demand, cash flow or a clear operating need appears.
Why it matters
Many sensible business purchases are sensible later, not before the first sale. Delaying them leaves more cash available for essential bills and unexpected costs. A written list also reassures you that the idea has been postponed with a trigger, rather than forgotten.
How to use it
- Move any item that is not needed for the first paid job.
- Set a trigger such as three sales or a specific workload.
- Record the expected price so future spending stays visible.
- Review the list only when its trigger is reached.
The free StartupCostCheck identifies costs that may be safer to postpone. Its result keeps those choices beside your runway and next step.
