StartupCostCheck Glossary
What is Startup runway?
Startup runway is the number of months your available business cash can cover planned startup costs and monthly burn before the money runs out.
Why it matters
Runway turns a savings balance into a time limit you can plan around. A six-month cushion may shrink quickly when tools, insurance and slow early sales are included. Seeing that limit before launch helps you reduce the opening spend or choose a safer start date.
How to use it
- Add the cash you have set aside for the business.
- Subtract one-time costs due before the first job.
- Divide the remaining cash by realistic monthly burn.
- Recalculate after every major cost or timing change.
StartupCostCheck estimates your runway from the costs and cash you enter. The free check also shows which purchases could be delayed to extend it.
